Selfish Appreciation Poem by Robert William Schmitz

Selfish Appreciation

As I look down this tunnel
It looks so long yet only seconds to the end
Like a machine everything seems to spiral so quickly
There is no light at the end of my tunnel
Yet a sense of relief and happiness fills me and I glow
It’s hot and I sweat profusely, how can I be this nervous
I push on I can do this it will all be over soon
I’ve thought about this restlessly and long
If I complete this journey I will solve everything
.4, for the amount of times you hurt me
5, for the these burdens
To heavy to carry, the pain breaks my back each day
This is tunnel is wrong, a steel escape from those I love
I turn around back to the ones I love there is to much for me
I can’t walk away from everything I have
Now I see the light, a real sense of relief takes a hold of me
I place the this gun back down on the table
Look up to a new start, and appreciation.
