Seeing Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Seeing

Small.
And incredibly shallow.
Enough to leave,
The ones thought yesterday...
Believed to be insignificant.
If they expressed,
Nothing adorned possessed to impress.
Or at least pretend,
They sought for themselves...
Attention and acceptance to get.

Seeing that these days,
Seems to be...
An unnecessary vision,
Anyone would drag from a distant past.
For no beneficial purpose.
But to be subjected to unwanted laughs.

Times change so fast.
The ones thought to be insignificant.
Quietly living with identity,
Dignity and integrity in check.
Are seen to see and believe them to be,
People who give and have earned their respect.

Times change to come and go.
Leaving few today trying to attempt to explain,
Reasons why...
A kept image of success,
Flaunted to impress and address...
What it is one has obtained to possess.
For the purpose and reason,
Just to display.
Seems to be upon seeing this,
Small and shallow.
Ridiculous.
And yet...
Captures the attention.
For the one entertaining and ultimately gets it.

"So small.
And incredibly shallow."

-And big on delivering the entertainment.-

"Yeah...but,
For what purpose and reason? "

-To get my attention.-

"BINGO!
You win what's behind door number 2."

-You think I'm stupid?
There is no door number 2.-

"Fools are not born that way.
They are made to be created."

-Meaning what? -

"Seeing is believing."
