See Through My Eyes Poem by Abdulrasheed Dawodu

See Through My Eyes

If only you would be so patient
As to see through my eyes
Then you would view the night
In her actual darkness
These dark visions in my memory
Haunting me in the night
Clinging to me with her fierceness

The coldness of the day
The heavy shower of rain
Beating me day and night
With no roof above my head
No shelter to hide myself
And no heart to share my grief
Just the generous sky
Sharing with me her bare blanket

If only I could see through your eyes
Then I would see the faces
Of these people with coldness
In their hearts
Who turn blind eye to my plights
Open your heart
Lend a helping hand
And see through my closed eyes
