Second Language Poem by Tony Adah

Second Language

Some stern looking
Soldiers accosted a lady
With wares on her head
What are you carrying?
They asked.
Okro for corn.
She muttered
The funniest thing
About these soldiers
Is that they shared
Same tongue with the lady
But preferred a second language.
