Seashore... Poem by Raihana Abdul Jabbar

Seashore...

Rating: 4.5

Leaning against the gigantic, geometric sculptures...
The fresh scent of the sea, I breathed in thankfully...
Listening to the water, the mesmerising murmur...
And the friendly call of the homeward gull...

Barefeet...No leather masking me from nature...
I strode along the shore, under the secluding sun...
Feeling the comforting warmth of gleaming, glittering sand...
Under my toes, pebbles tickling at times...

Playful waves kissed my feet, gently...
As they washed away the cipher I left...
Decoded, took them away...
To where the sea hid her pearls...

With a profusion of violets, blues, oranges and pinks...
Finished up with a golden wash...
Nature, painted out in intricate strokes...
A splendiferous sunset for me...

I like the images and impressions your words and wording evoke. You provide a lot for various senses to respond to. One can easily picture the scene of what is happening. Good use of double words beginning with the same letter: gigantic, geometric.......mesmerising murmur.... secluding sun..... gleaming glittering sand... splendiferous (nice word) sunset. The reader should also not miss the “scent of the sea”, “call of the...gull”, strode along the shore”, and “waves...washed away”.. All are effective in making this a pleasure reading.
