You sank me down
in muds of treachery
like quicksand
clawing at my soul.
And I was lowered
too shamed to question
except in silence
with torturing self-doubt.
Shall I rise above it?
with a confidence,
an ego
I do not possess?
For in these tangled dreams of resurrection
I find humility
incomprehensible
as I, in blindness,
search for pride.
