Seal Pup Poem by Rebecca Duncan

Seal Pup

You made a fire

While I put cheese on crackers

And we fed each other

Sitting on the beach, laughing

Wrapped in a blanket

Spreading crumbs everywhere

For the crabs and birds

So close to you

Your kisses

The smell of the ocean

The sound of the waves

I grow heady

I want to run

And dance and swim

Exuberant as a seal pup

Darting through patches

Of sleek and slithery seaweed

Diving under the waves

Pressed to sand at bottom

Then released, speeding to the surface

Breaking through the surface

To greet you,

My seal pup mate

Wow! I like it! I was attracted to this poem because I have one with the same title.
