School Poem by Michelle Hanes

School

The day started at six,
Brush my teeth and make them clean

Do my hair, detangle and spray
Until it had somewhat of a sheen

Then I walked to the bus stop
Rain or shine, because I had school

Sometimes it was hot and warm
Sometimes It was cold and cool

We always went to school
Unless it was extreme weather

Like winds going so fast that
You would need a tether

Or snow so tall that you
couldn't open your front door

But it was just cloudy so
I went even though it's such a bore

A place full of tests, work,
quizzes, work, and did I mention work?

There are teachers too, but they
are outnumbered, there are bullies who lurk

Everywhere, looking for victims and looking
out for teachers, who somehow never notice them

What worst isn't the work or
bullies or the annoying program STEM

Its not the broken sign in front
or the crazy teachers

Not the slightly ripped flag
or the rusty bleachers

What's worse is...

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Ok, a couple things:

No, That is how the poem ends
No, I'm continuing it
The point of it is that, whatever is worst about school is 'in the eye of the beholder'.
