Scab Eater Poem by Lance Carthen

Scab Eater

Abnormal tendencies
Fueled by mental atrophy
Rotten with no regret
Singing nursery hymn's
Scabbing up my knee's
Hiding in the church basement
A victim of relative raping
Thoughts that make a grown man cry
22 years a child gone crazy
Begging God for an escape
Please no more of these thoughts okay?
Just for one day make them go away
They never went away
The monster only grew stronger
The longer I scarred my chest
Hiding in the closet with a rusty coathanger
I thought maybe the more I bleed
The bad blood will be what comes out
It will feed a sick release
Thoughts of suicide
Everyday was a regret
Why am I still alive?
Why do I catch all this torment?
Bullies on the playground
Spitting on me and calling me names
Scab eater, Scab eater, Scab eater
I grew older with time
The bad things lost in past
But the memory remained
Had to release this aggression
That had been caused form suppression
I could not stand my own reflection
A piece of paper and a pencil presented,
Taking me in a new direction
A world unknown to me
I was brought into the world of...poetry.
Now its my turn
