Say Something Poem by Rebekah Hedquist

Say Something

We stood before each other
My love for you is strong
But you don’t care
I’m ready to leave
I’m saying goodbye
Say something to make me stay
And I may just stay
The world comes down on my shoulders
And you just look at me
No words are said
Say something please
Since I’m about to leave
And give up on what means so much to me
This feeling in not something
I wish to feel,
I would rather have you say something
To have me stay but nothing comes
I start to turn
But as I do
You grab my hand
And say to me
“Please stay,
And we could try again
Please, I don’t want you to leave.”
I turn and look at you
Tears fall to the floor
And my heart begs for more
I not one simple nod
I don’t say anything
But I was glad that you said something
