Say 'I Love You' Poem by indira babbellapati

Say 'I Love You'

Say 'I Love you, '
Requests would pour forth
'To mine a few verses
Lying dormant within...'
Ever since I made
My presence on the web
Initially the requests
Intrigued me
Confused me
Does one need that sort of
Thrust to write what comes naturally?
I would quiz with myself
The requests troubled me
At some point, if I was
Dampening others' muse
Something would come my way
I who always love people spontaneously
Could never say 'I love you'
Tongue tied?
Inhibition?
Self-conscious?
None I should say
For there's some discernible
Undercurrent i couldn't appreciate

The requests remained requests
They continu(ed) to write...

There's always someone else
To fill and fulfill the need
Glad, if not me to fire
A poet's imagination
And keep his poetry alive...
