Say Hello To Me Poem by bob barci

Say Hello To Me

If you should ever
see me sitting there
with a far away look in my eye,
don’t let it frighten you away.
Don’t let it make you pass me by.
I may be only thinking of a poem to write
based on a word or phrase I just heard.
I may be just a tad blue or lonely
and looking for someone to keep me company.
Don’t be insulted if I don’t say much,
I never had the gift of gab.
If you should ever
see me sitting there -
don’t let my oneness keep me there.
Don’t let my eyes say “Leave me alone! ”
Don’t let my eyes lie so easily.
Release me from my solitude.
Make me part of the whole.
Just walk right up,
look me in the eye,
and say hello to me.
Just say hello to me.
I may be taken off guard for a minute.
Don’t let that make you back off.
Just hang in there
and say hello to me.
And should you spot my smile,
you know you’re getting through to me.
My conversation may not be extensive,
but, that’s just me.
Too many people
converse forever with big words
and never really say a thing.
They try too hard to impress you
and only succeed in failing.
Me, I just keep it simple and easy.
And if you really want to get to get through to me,
impress the heck out of me,
just walk right up to me,
and, say hello to me.
