Saturnian Cinema Poem by Clark Ashton Smith

Saturnian Cinema

How many a new and strange neurosis
The film-producer vexes
When love requires a symbiosis
Of nine or seven sexes.

Seduction too is problem-laden—
Picture it if you can—
Calling for several kinds of maiden,
Several kinds of man.

Picture the complicated clinches
At crises of the plot,
The sevenfold or ninefold cinches
That tie the nuptial knot.

Heroes and heroines must fill in
Their roles of plural sex,
The parts of villainess and villain
Are also multiplex.
