Satisfaction Ii. Poem by Ivana RadanJamnicki

Satisfaction Ii.

When you and I and many others We and Ourselves
Get tired of other people’s constant demands for explanations
And tiring conversations with a dead-end
When want to leave the long analysis or what each one of you has said, meant or done
When most we get is surrounding ourselves with people who seem to be there
But actually cannot hear us
When we want to stand out so we are - say, “more visible” in the crowd
When you think you are uninteresting enough for others to get to know you better
And when you start to change yourself in order to be slimmer or more attractive

Then, or even not then, you and me, for I am you
We don’t realize there is no way to search completeness out there
Then, or maybe not even then,
We people don't find that the approval of ours cannot be found in the eyes of others
We may not know why and it may seem unfair
We may not get that compassion or understanding we were seeking
Not as how much we’d want to, not in the words of no one else
We, this people, may be close just to reach out for happiness
Before it always somehow slips out of our hands or turns into a bad guess
And we may blame bad fortune, bad timing, bad “elses” and bad etcetera
We, humans
