Sand Castles Poem by Franklin Spriggs

Sand Castles

I stand beside the ocean blue,
The sun glimmering off the wave’s
I watch the people scurry about,
Where children happily play.

Sand castles here, sand castles their,
Up and down the shore,
The waves come in and cover them,
Then they are seen no more.

Palms trees blowing in the wind,
As if to say hello,
There palm limbs look like waveing hands,
Casting shadows on the sand below.

Umbrellas blowing down the beach.
Like Autumn leaves falling to the ground,
They tumble here, they tumble their,
As people chase them down.

The sun so hot, the sand not cool,
Suntan lotion in every hand,
Enjoy yourself at a beach today,
Building castles in the sand.

Auther,

Building sand castles in the mind Is a richness you'll find As there is no end to the summer That is like no other. For in the mind's eye You clearly see that which is there for you and me, A beautiful beach and endless sand Where one can relax, never mind the other man Who attempts to control the thoughts of all With the constant 'news' about the coming fall. For in our summer of no end There are only pleasures to blend As we tightly close our eyes in dreams That are what we make of them, it seems. For those who dare to drift away The sand castles in our mind will always stay. s
