Safe Return Poem by Davina Vanessa Rivas

Safe Return

As the cool winds blows
Their love will grow
As you are there across the seas
She’s here at home waiting

For your safe return
As the war starts to turn around
You can’t wait to go home
To see your beautiful wife and child

The child you have only seen in
A picture of only four year of age
Never writing to your wife to let her know
Where you are so she can send you

A wonderful picture of your five years old
Now your beautiful wife worries because it’s been seven months
Since you last written to her
Trying your best to surprise her of your home coming

The last time you saw your wonderful wife
She was six months pregnant and baring a son
You open the door; there he is your five year old son
Never seeing you before, he runs to his mother

Yelling and screaming stranger his mother goes to the door
She looks and sees you she runs into your arms
You finally say the words she has been dying to hear
With a little tear running down your cheek you say

“ I’M HOME AND I’M HERE TO STAY MY LOVE ”
