Safe Haven...It's Not A Tree House Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Safe Haven...It's Not A Tree House

Rating: 5.0

It's not a tree house
That hides me from the world;
Where birds rest on my shoulders
And I ignore yellow jackets so they
Won't sting...
It's not a tree house,
I climbed no ladder to nestle here
Where clouds pass by
And I reach but cannot touch
As they smile at me...
I bask in the sun -
Evening breezes soothe me
And stars and moon keep me company.
It's not a tree house,
Or inflated balloon
Or rocket ship
Where I escape from the maddening haste
And eat ginger snaps
And wave at butterflies
And love here
And laugh here!
Time is nought -
And I am lulled to sleep by quiet thoughts
But I miss the flowers -
I miss the flowers!
