Safe From Harm Poem by Barbara Vanier

Safe From Harm

All this time I spend in shadow
Hollow from my life’s decay
Always trying to reach outside
Hoping to grab onto a piece of light

Thrown into despair
Because you are never there
Never there to hold me in your arms
Feeling I disappear
‘cause no one sees me here
Here to keep me safe from harm

My tears so many times fall like rain
Flooding my wading pool of misery
Crawling on the floor hear me scream
A faceless voice no one ever sees

Thrown into despair
Because you are never there
Never there to hold me in your arms
Feeling I disappear
‘cause no one sees me here
Here to keep me safe from harm

Why must this tree of lies grow so
My tears have made my heart a stone
This load is weighing me down today
Why won’t you love this all away

Thrown into despair
Because you are never there
Never there to hold me in your arms
Feeling I disappear
‘cause no one sees me here
Here to keep me safe from harm
