Sabir Haka



Sabir Haka

A fish
And a sponge
Take in water, limitless
But spending little time shows
Fish pushes out the water, sponge
Must be forced to let the water get out.

I was reading Sabir’s poems; a little known poet
(That is to me and whoever does not read Persian)

“Human, ” he says “Has no freedom to choose.”

It may sound strange but he proves it in poem
And I
How would have known him if it was choice?

I am afraid of remaining a laborer, even after death
Was brought to me

Cover photo strange
An obscure angry man
Reddish and brownish
A five o’clock shadow

Inside:

“Have you witnessed the fall of a blackberry?
It shares its blood with the Earth
(Nothing is as painful as falling)
I have seen many workers
Like blackberry they share their blood
When falling...
