S.O.S. Poem by John Leroy Maxwell

S.O.S.

Stranded on an Island, and Island without love
No hope for the future, no sign from above
I sent a message in a bottle, in hopes that
someday someone, somewhere, my dreams
would repay
I stood and I waited, in solitary vain
No answer as yet, but if not try, then no gain
Patience and longing encompass my heart
Patience and longing I've had from the start
My mind filled with thoughts, of true loves
loving face
Would I succeed, or be cloaked in disgrace
The moon and the sun, and the tides bring no hope
They've come and they've gone, still I wait
and I cope
This Island so lonely, to patiently yearn, for a
message in a bottle, for me will return
Warmth and compassion floating from across
the sea
A message in a bottle, with love, meant for me
