Run Away Poem by Leila Mass

Run Away

Rating: 5.0

I want to run away
To a place of no pain
Into a promising light
Where only few have gone
My legs push with superhuman effort
To run straight to it
But it quickly disappeares
I want to run away
From the darkness
That blinds me
Away from screams and yells
Away from the sad and anger
To a tranquil place
I want to run away
From disturbing nightmares
And the even worse reality
Every time I think I'm away from it all
I end up where I started
I think I can cross to the other side
It's just a short distance
I almost always cross the finish line
But never quite break the ribbon to win the race

I'm sure we can all relate to the above lines at some point of time in our lives. Thanks for sharing.

Nice contrast in this poem. You're neither fast enough to escape the darkness nor to win the race, but all the same you still run the race. Most excellent. The race of life is a vicious cycle, and many times you feel like you end up precisely where you started. This perspective is very transparent and quite mature I might add. Thanks for sharing.10+ Feel free to check out some of my poems.
