Rumour Poem by Humphrey Bryant

Rumour

Rating: 0.5

They said -
Someone said -
They heard it
While whistling by,
While eavesdropping.
Nobody ever says it,
Yet we hear it
Rumour!

It spreads like water
Bereft of valid premise.
It lingers on our mind like a tuft from cotton
Rumour!

Thomas won't doubt
If he were present.
So illuminated,
You'll think God said it himself.

Everyone with their own version;
Selling like a refurbished album.
Nobody plays it,
But everybody knows the lyrics by heart.

Rumour!
They chortle humour
And exhibit equivocal flavour.
