Rough & Tough Women Poem by Marilyn Lott

Rough & Tough Women

They were rough and tough women
From back in the old west
Shootin’ and fightin’ and robbin’
Is what they did the best

Hidin’ out in Lord knew where
Away from the lawman’s eye
A life so different from others
It sure makes ya wonder why

Their boyfriends were bad guys
Didn’t care about what they did
Whatever they wanted they got it
And then found a hole and hid

Card sharks were some of them
Cheatin’ while they played
Get themselves in some trouble
And that’s where they seemed to stay

Ah yes, the old western days
Quite a life for the unlawful gals
Good people to stay away from then
Along with their bad boy pals!
