Rose In The Valley Poem by Chris Jibero

Rose In The Valley

Unending are life battles
Appointments dimmed so many
Expectations shattered uncountable
Insomnia and despair
Courting inglorious ends
Walk beside each other
As a highly compatible couple
Ashes abound in cold tents
Wastes adorn fruitless striving
Tears in lugubrious processions
Chase one another on furrowed cheeks
worries dig wavy ridges
On tired temples
But the batteries of waning souls
Are recharged in the burning furnaces
Of dreams

A Rose there is
In the valley
Though inconspicuous
For the untrained eye
Waiting to be discovered
Cos big testimonies
Emanate from scary deep valleys
Like in Elah
Where a sling and a pebble
Gave a ruddy boy triumph
Over the champion giant
And so does your promotion
And your lingering decoration
Lie in that gloomy valley

Oh valley
Home of intimidation
And unplanned and hasty desertion
Accosting the lily-livered
Before the crown
But our Rose of Sharon
Forever inhabits valleys
To show ways to mountain peaks.
