Roger, Thumper, Or Starsky? Poem by Simon Gowen

Roger, Thumper, Or Starsky?

I'm off to buy a pet today
My mum said that I can.
The last pet that I had has gone
Mom flushed him down the pan

I loved that little goldfish
I won him at a fair
But now it's time to change I think
A pet with teeth and hair.

A cat is not an option
They make me sneeze and cough
We had a dog some years ago
But sadly he ran off

I do not want a gerbil
They hide in tiny places
And guinea pigs are not for me
Cos they've got funny faces

So now I've made my mind up
Mom said I can have it
I'm just about to make my choice
We're going to have a RABBIT
