Rock In River Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Rock In River

Rock in river

Talked to rock in river, stream
Was funny, we had same language:
“Came and went piece of hay, was rotten
And bubble that popped out from side
Then climbed till it burst.”
“And what else? ”
“A pebble
Fell in and lost its weight, pawn in game
And came fish, that foolish
Swam down to bottom
Climbed back with failure.”
“And what else? ”
“Rising dust soared in air no place
Came made mud…”
“And what else? ”
“A moon-like beauty with friend…”
“Was that he? ”
“A self-made young man of Palestine.”
“Where from? ”
“Of Gaza, very wise, strong…”
“Powerful? ”
“Yes in mind…”
“How was so? ”
“He spoke to the girl of the past, present
And now to future…”
“Did they kiss? Any sex? ”
“That is all personal…”
“What happened? ”
“He told her in firm voice:
We have to ignore them…work on own…”
“Ignore who? ”
“I saw it as the world, the farthest, nearest…”
“What that means? ”
“He talked of fear’s death among kids…
Having faced daily deaths…
He was right when mentioned:
Fearless is fear to the rest.”
“What you mean? ”
“Do you want a repeat? ”
“I guess not! ”
