Robbery Poem by Tom Allport

Robbery

Rating: 5.0

On opening the door
Greeted by a gun
With shouts of down
The nightmare had begun
Gun to head
Duct taped face
And arms and legs
In a terrified place.

Those first two lines are a tutorial in how to write an opening that is guaranteed to keep the reader reading [or flying to the nearest safe room].. How to write a frightening piece in a succinct and powerful way. I think I will go take a sedative now... ;)
