Road Trip Poem by Phoebe Nyashanu

Road Trip

Lets take a trip
Just the two of us
To a place unknown to anyone else
With daisies and tulips and chrysanthemums
With short green grass
Under a dazzling blue sky
The ripple of a stream punctuating nature's silence
In that small open space
Where only you and me
Can complete it as the perfect picture

We can forget the world
Forget our troubles
Forget our sins
Forget our mistakes
Forget our responsibilities
Forget everyone else
But focus on just us, just US

We can dance around the meadow
Smell the flowers
Act silly
Look stupid
Make unforgettable memories
And be absolutely happy

While others thrive on fake romances, fickle love
And fabricated fairytales
We actually live all those fantasies

All it will take is one Road Trip
4 eyes
And 2 heartbeats
