Road To Salvation Poem by Mike Barrett

Road To Salvation

“Where are you going?
Where is your mommy?
Lost?
There, there. Don't cry!
You're a big one now -
Only babies cry!
Here, a lollipop.
That's right, dry your eyes.
Smile! '

Lost?
Don't cry!
Behind tear-dry faces
The world silently weeps;
Behind the smile,
Desperate anguish!

Whither I've come
I know not -
Nor any other!

'The womb! The womb! '
Yes,
But beyond that,
Whither I've come,
I know not.

Into an ocean born
[ Adaptation is forced ]
I embraced, was embraced
But after twenty years
An intense fear
Of drowning
In these naturally artificial waters
Caused me to loose my hold
To strike for the shores
On which I now walk.

A difficult swim
BUT
Completed!
