Road Of Life Poem by DiAnne Douglass

Road Of Life

Walking down the road of life
Don't know where I'm going
Just know that today
I have ta go somewhere new & fun

I know everyday can't be like
A day at Disneyland
But just for today
Where's the harm?
In letting me have a little fun
My own way

I guess I have to be a little careful
So as not to wind up as roadkill
Yet another casualty of
A busy life on a busy street
In this busy world

But caution has it's own dangers
Can't afford to become
Overly cautious
Constantly watching for unseen dangers
Supposedly lurking around every corner

'cause where's the joy in that?
A life wasted away
On everyday fears
Consumed by needless worrying
Until I fade away

I know each day can't be like
A walk in the park
A day at Disneyland
Life isn't always easy
Or filled with laughter & excitement
But just for today
I'm gonna have a little fun

Harmless and innocent
Like dancing in the rain
Singing a little too loud
Swinging at the park
Giggling for no reason
A little fun for me
Like I use to have
In my childhood, not that long ago

Walking down the road of life
Cars passing me by
Nobody notices me
Invisible as can be
Walking down the road of life
Don't know where I'm going
Just know that I'm looking
For something fun
To save me from my boring life
