River Poem by Paul McAnaney

River

Rating: 5.0

Over the waterfall i go
plunging into your icy
water as it splashes
and crashes with a
brutish force upon my
kayak. Violent and
graceful you are as you
demand respect. Back
and forth we duel neither
willing to capitulate to the
other, then with a quick
and deliberate blow over i
go. My world now upturned
and i struggle to free myself
from my cocoon like appendage.
My lungs now feel your icy touch
and with a resounding pop im
free. Now as i pull myself
ashore i acknowledge your
victory. Till next time my
friend
