Righteousness Poem by Janet Mulligan

Righteousness

There can be good in everything
I've heard it's called the silver-lining
We live and learn and grow and grow
Finding out there is always more to know
In this moment I'm seeking understanding
I'd like to feel a true compassion commanding
I think I know of it intelligently
But for certain I can only know by its demanding
At first it's intimidating and gives a definitive cry
And then it becomes that purposeful drive
Can't live without loving and unwilling to try
Pervading the way I think and behave
People say I'm not the person they once knew
I say thanks because it's very true
To be wholesome instead of 3 separate parts
Where fear used to be upon my heart
I couldn't be now so far apart
Over there was the unknown scar
Now here is a brand new shiny star
Radiate with me and help us all glow brightly
I promise you'll see through happy eyes
Give yourself a gift and remove that old disguise
