Riddled With Pain - Poem by Nika McGuin

Ow!
did you feel it?
you weren't paying attention
but you must have felt it, yes?
the pain is echoing now
is it too late to say ouch?
and if you say it late
is it only half-assed then?
by the time you decipher this riddle
the pain will have ebbed away

I don't know the answer to this riddle, or even if there is an answer. But your words capture a moment of consciousness on the fly. Usually we aren't paying attention, or brush off such moments. What this poem does - for me - is makes me alert - I don't want to miss the next signal from within the psyche. How long can I keep my mind focused? I hope long enough. (Report) Reply
