Rhyming Nonsense Poem by George Hunter

Rhyming Nonsense

I can make a silly rhyme
Almost any old time
For a nickel or a dime
Or a vodka with a lime.
I should have been a mime
With a face of whitish grime
Doing pantomime
And lead a life of crime
And end up doing time
In my single lifetime
Or doing overtime
In the good old summertime
Swinging on a vine
While playing ragtime
In the meantime
Slipping in the slime
Just before bedtime.

For I'm a rhyming fool
From Liverpool
Sitting on a toadstool
In Sunday school
Playing April fool
Like a big whirlpool
Causing me to drool
In my swimming pool

Does any of this make sense
Or is it just impertinence
A bit of nonsense
And some fraudulence
Or maybe flatulence.
Probably incompetence
To test your intelligence
And beg your sufferance.
So in all reverence
Please excuse my senescence
And this excresence!

We all need a bit of nonsense occasionally. - this is very good nonsense, if nonsense it be.
