Responsibility Poem by Ajit Das

Responsibility

Rating: 4.3

Brute of a word! Why do you never
get off the back of my mind?

All day long I am tied to you.
I carry your load in the morning haze,
through the midday blaze,
down homebound commuting
snarling, lengthening
into evening's lost dreams of rest.

Sometimes I feel to dodge you,
fly off, float in the endless blue.
But your burden squats on me,
holds me down, offers no release
from here-and-now I am bound to.

Fantastic..how well expressed the haze, the blaze, the dreamy wishful desire to fly off and float into the blue only to be brought back to earth by the squatting burden. Each word is perfectly placed and the weight is felt. Splendid...........
