Resolutions Poem by Andy Dean

Resolutions

It's new years day, a brand new start,
new resolutions come from the heart
Give up smoking, cut down on the booze
take long walks instead of the afternoon snooze

The first few days it all goes well
but by the months end, they've gone to hell
shattered like a broken dream
those good intentions have run out of steam

That expensive gym membership that you bought
given up without a thought
the exercise bike on which we made a start
now for sale in the exchange and mart

Or just stood in a corner all forlorn
draped with clothing that we've worn
so this new year, it's easy for me,
much more walking and photography!
