Renewal Poem by Elizabeth Padillo Olesen

Renewal

Rating: 5.0

Renewed from hatred
that strangulates the flow of love.

Renewed from anger
that bulldozes a mountain of understanding.

Renewed from pain
that shatters the windows of tomorrows.

Renewed from fear
that makes all days to dark nights.

Renewed from despair
that drowns the promise of hope.

Renew us, O Lord, from the malady
of hatred, anger, pain,
fear and despair.
And restore us to the bountiful promise
of strength, joy, faith and service
from the heart of Jesus.

Thanks, dear Robert for your generous response. This is my way of interpreting the word renewal in poetic lines. I think, I was amazed, that I could come up with the good images to draw out good thoughts. Thanks for liking this. Sometimes poems can be written without much pain or labor, other poems may take tiime to finally be created. This is one of my poems which had a natural flow which I thought was easier to write.
