Remission Ending Poem by Laura Brett

Remission Ending

She could feel the darkness approaching again
Feel it creep up towards her
Like supernatural fog in a graveyard
Feel it seep through her scarred skin
Right through to her bones
Tired, always tired
But scared?
No.
Because the fog is like a comforting gesture
Beckoning her to come closer
And she knows if she falls into its smothering grasp
It will keep her there,
Hidden from the world
And all the impertinent questions it asks.
