Remembrance Poem by Shruti Goswami

Remembrance

Nowadays
I forget every other thing
Little things and big.
I forget two and two makes four
Forget that I ate
Forget that I did the chores
Forget that I paid.
Like a robot programmed
To carry out commands
I reiterate
I reiterate.
I forget known faces all
Forget the roads and lanes
I even forgot the childhood memories
I forget when it rains.
I forget where I stay now often
And people who make my day
Sometimes I even forget my name
Remembrance is out of my way.
And now they tell me pretty often
I forget all their names
I forget how I look like and
Forget all my claims.
But even though I might forget
To get up or be sane
Someday I shall forget I died
But my soul shall still remain.
