Remember Me Poem by Dayna Verhulst

Remember Me

Remember me.
Remember all those lazy summer afternoons,
Just laying around and having fun.
It's weird to think those days are done.

Remember when our spirits were so high,
I started to believe I could fly.
It was because you made my heart soar.
Well, that was before you walk out the door.

For the last time I called you mine.
Now loving you is a crime.
Damn I hate poems that rhyme.

Your love grew like a seed in me,
Making me start to like what I see
When I look in the mirrror.

I started to love without the fear.
That you would go and break my heart.
But still you ripped it all appart,
And spread the little pieces around,
Grinding them into the cold, hard ground.

I try to look on the brightside.
I ask god if one day might I,
Be able to look at you without pain,
And not fight back tears when someone says your name.

Do you even notice how I leave or look away,
And how my sunny day suddenly turns to dark.
It's all because your giving Her your heart.
