Remember... Poem by Padmanabhan Ananth

Remember...

Rating: 5.0

Do you, of the fine Sunday evening's moment
When the nurse, wrapped you in tiny blanket
You were just born, the last day of February
Your mommy still recovering from delivery?

Do you, of your excitement in the aircraft
When you sought to stretch-n-reach out
For a tiny handful of fluffy clouds and hide it
Under your cot, for the stars to shine at night?

Do you, of the days when you made a 'tent'
Out of bedsheet-n-chairs and 'lived' in it
With a collection of toys and baby kitchen set
And the effort-n-delight made you nap for rest?

Do you, of your unending love for Barbie dolls
And even more to shampoo-wash their tresses
Or the 'shirts' you made with plastic sheet
And turned 'fashion designer' those little feet?

Do you, of your passion for electronic keyboard
And with practised ease, Fur Elise you played
Or collected songs in your own tiny MP3s
That would let you listen to many varieties?

Do you of your obsession for the ball-bounce
Or ride the bicycles, skates you had to possess
Or the umpteen sports-n-games your fancy
Lasted till some li’l else was your fantasy?

Do you, of Percy Jackson’s - your favourites
Or of Amar Chitra Kathas* and Barefoot Atlas
Of novels, serials and movies your longing?
You so love reading, re-reading, watching

Do you, of pure, pure innocence that's never
Lost on you? And my 'baby' you'll be, forever!

Thanks Valsa. I did read your poem on your younger son. Quite a powerful one. I've uploaded one more on my first daughter - My First Blessing. You may like to read that too.
