Rejuvenation Poem by Casey Gochnour

Rejuvenation

As the heart tears, the eye cries,
Realizing nobody cares, the soul dies.
A hollow husk of a man, a decaying carcass,
How could they be so heartless?

Aching for anguish, the skin so soft,
A wish for release, spirit aloft.
To become the ever seeing eye of the sky,
Omniscience, the gift for saying goodbye.

A final absolution, the twist of the knife,
The last words to end the putrid life.
As horrors bombarded the mind within,
In a fight he knew he’d never win.

Not strong enough, no will to move on,
But one turn of the cheek, he’ll be gone.
No one will remember his name,
And he only has himself to blame.

He won’t leave a letter, nothing at all,
His being in this world was just too small.
No impact on anyone or anything,
The world cut off with a simple string.

The end was soon and he knew it to be true,
And now that you know, it’s all up to you.
What is there now? What is there to do?
Now that you know, it’s all up to you.
