Rejuvenated Lies Poem by Imafidon Mac Henry

Rejuvenated Lies

We have been fooled by 'demon crazy'
Nurtured by same old voices rocking high waves,
Our children injected with their syringes,
Their seats covered with deceit;
They act like they care,
While our hearts a state of acute pain,
Of misery wallowing in despairs
Hung our heads hopelessly
With their bitter twisted lies.

Our consciences bought with filthy coins,
To bargain for power and honour,
To fight corruption a priority,
Taken as an agenda for the rally grounds,
Their seats, a destination were liars meet.

Our blood sucked into the marrows,
Siblings displaced across the globe,
For the elusive greener grasses
In slime, pool of blood and smelly fluids.
Murdered by change.
Land were sanity is insanity,
Kidnapped justice, no atom of trace.
All we desire is the change we will make and not the change they will make,
Venom of death projected into our bloods,
To who defile their words.

Newspaper stands in grief,
Screaming sad stories
Of brothers at the other end of the globe,
Harvests now as dried as harmattan leaves,
Gaunt children with hollow protruding bellies,
Yet a thin voice heralds justice.

When billions are pocketed
In their living rooms,
The laws are lawless agents they act,
When their pocket are overwhelmed by  same criminals,
And eyes have been blinded
with diamonds glittering in their palaces.

They buried our wishes of hope,
And slay hearts than till the earth,
Their children in palaces of knowledge,
Our children are trampled upon
in slummy songs of doom,
Education a promotion into offices of amassing wealth their priority.

Youths are the leaders of tomorrow
In dreamland from Kaduna to London
On bare foot with no dime,
Same old lies rocking the waves and they call it change,
Our job connects to the known
While the unknown is on its own.

Arise!
Pay not heed to the words that come out from their mouth,
Don't be enslaved to their change,
If only you've got eyes you will see their care above head up,
That their care is about the change they will make and not the change they will make.
