Rejection - William Shakespeare Poem by Antony Waller

Rejection - William Shakespeare

Dear Mr Shakespeare

I really must protest
Your latest work, that manuscript
It’s clearly not your best
What’s more your score was badly ripped
And caused me angst all through the night
Beside my candle burning low
To read those scribbled words you write
Your play lacks form, no ebb nor flow
Will, what are you thinking, a Scottish plot
With murders, betrayal, blood and guts
And three old witches round a pot
No, I think you should make some cuts
Try harder with your spelling
I’m sure it would improve your play
To make it much more telling
Now as my night slowly turns to day
With deep regret I must reject
Your sonnets and this dreadful act
So please rewrite and then correct
Or else our contract I must retract

Yours in fortitude
