Redemption Poem by Traquita Thomas

Redemption

Rating: 2.7

There are times when words fail,
When discord and wrath prevail.
How I long to be a vessel of peace,
To commit to action Biblical teachings.
I have fallen so far from the standards of purity and love ordained long ago.
Daily I seek Your face yet I place faith in the things of man.
I humbly submit my mind, flesh and spirit to that which lives deep within me.
The Christ in me that lies covered with all manner of filth and evil.
I dig frantically to uncover You.
I am nothing without You.
I am soiled.
I revile myself.
You alone can save me.
I know You. Yet I run from You.
Rein me in.
Shackle me to You and protect me from the wiles of Satan.
There is no power greater than Your loving kindness.
I fall into Your arms for rest and comfort.
Knowing that You, and You alone provide all that I need.
I thank You for Your patience while I wandered through the wilderness of sin.
Redeemer of this world and the next,
Unfathomable love and obedience I give you now.
Your purity and longsuffering I drape myself in.
Untold blessings await me through the promises of old.
I await not the blessings just the peace in the fullness of You.
Your existence was chronicled by man and bound into the Book of Books.
But no writing or book could ever teach what I feel deep within my soul.
I have always known You.
I close my eyes and You encompass me.
I am still and know that You, and You alone
Keep infinite watch over all that I am and all that I could ever hope to be.
In this my darkest hour, I thank You for Your quiet diligence.
I thank You for the very stillness that beckons me and rejuvenates my faith.
You softly speak to my spirit and the sound resonates through my heart
as a waterfall from the highest cliff.
You are the constant flame of light in my life.
You never extinguish though gusts of wind threaten to darken my way.
You are my unpenetratable core,
And I am made whole by Your grace and mercy.
