Red Winged Blackbird - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

Red Winged Blackbird - Lincoln Park Zoo

I'm back at the Nature Boardwalk,
Summer time at Lincoln Park Zoo.
Lots of red winged blackbirds flock
To do our nesting, we do.
When walking humans walk too close
To where my family nest be,
I call a warning to engross
The humans to pay heed to me.
Too often humans just ignore
My voiced request to walk away.
And so I have no choice therefore
But warn in aerial display.

Come too close to my nest - beware,
You will be dive bombed from the air.
