Red Velvet Dress Poem by Jimmy L. Lyons

Red Velvet Dress

The church was having a conference,
so I stayed in church on Sunday.
I looked around the church,
and saw a beautiful woman
in a red velvet dress.

So I asked her, "How you doing? "
She said that she's doing fine.
She looked me in the eye,
and I looked back at her
in that red velvet dress.

I said, "I love that dress you got on."
She thanked me, and she asked me,
"Do you love gospel music? "
I said, "Yes, I do love gospel music."
She was a woman of God.

That woman loves to sing, and she loves God;
we both had a good time that day in church.
As we parted I told her, "You be blessed, "
and she said, "You be blessed, too."
She looked so beautiful in that red velvet dress.
