Red Ink Poem by Sana Olivia Hernandez

Red Ink

Let it be said,
That I rarely write in red.
If I do,
You'd better watch your head.
'Cause if you don't
You may be dead.

The first line, a formal, neutral statement - LET IT BE SAID - rhymes with the last line - YOU'D BE DEAD - which is neither formal nor neutral. In between is a frightening exercise in scaring the daylights out of someone. The conciseness and control of the speaker make it unnerving.
