Rebuilt Tears Poem by Josephine Lauderdale

Rebuilt Tears

It's extremely quiet right now
The clock ticks from the other room
The only interruption
Nothing indicates that my neighbor's house has burnt down

And it did
Two nights ago

The predection is rain today
And lots of it

Where was it 48 hours ago?

Did it know that it was needed?
Right then and there

Not here and now

There's a house burning anyhow
Right now

Rain hard
Hardly rain

Sometimes in vain
But always again
