Real Road Poem by Bongo Beno Kabingesi

Real Road

Rating: 5.0

Lights
Something doesn't feel right
You walk and walk deeper into the night
Wondering why you'd try to not die on a road that's named suicide
Though truly the name comes from it's parent, the fathers side
It's a bit of a system and we're a little addicted
A little bound, A little constricted
We try to break the system but forget to fix it
Like when we found ourselves on Mig33's and Mxit
It's a bit of a system and we're a little addicted
A little determined, Kinda convicted
Separated, sold, sectioned and sifted
All it takes is a good thumbs up to get lifted
So keep your eyes on the giver if you're gifted
And you'll find yourself being an heir and witness
Screech

The brakes break the quiet shake of the trees beside that cold lake
You slip by mistake and trip in the lake and find yourself in the living room of hake
You take a swimming bus and trust that the who people died like them couldn't possibly die like us
So we wonder and we ask and we trust… And if they find it unfamiliar shake the dust
Forward and onward on the real road
Accidents are not accidents, currency is not rands and cents
And that was straight is suddenly bent
And the money we never had is suddenly spent
So why should I relent when I speak my 2cents
Like change from a vending machine offering free tents
For refugees who hide and see the secrets we were afraid to see
So let's look up and let's just see the plans the path for you and me

Travel with me to the place we read about when we were younger than we are
When we weren't worried about words on a report or petrol in a car
I seldom think we truly sink and we will actually make it very far
But the bar is set and the fighter jets of what they expect
Will fill you with the persona of an insect

Red Light

You don't know where you are but you got there the same way again
You thought you could type in a name and find your friends
But your laptop's gone and your battery's dead
Who's the person you talk to the most in your head?
Ask if you can be something more than free
Tell us who you are, Tell us what you see
Make those wrong turns into right
Change your gear, Change your life
And you might just cruise truly when you see that
Green Light.

I like this! A nice take on why not to do things rashly! Very well written. Nice!
